The Association de l'I.S.L.E. was created in January 2006 in order to help people, coming to live in France, to help them make the most of their life here, and to encourage integration in the local community, making friends along the way.
L'I.S.L.E. represents these four aims:
Currently, the Association de l'I.S.L.E. has more than 90 members.
The idea was conceived in 2004 by the former president of the Office de Tourisme Cantonal of L'Isle Jourdain, Madame Marie-Hélène Callaud, along with several members of the committee. We wanted to encourage foreigners living in our area to discover and participate in life in our region, the south of the Vienne department. After having met several people who were interested in our vision and wanted to share this experience with us, a group was formed under the umbrella of the Office de Tourisme: The Commission Amitié Internationale.
The Amitié Internationale has grown beyond the realms of the Office de Tourisme, giving us a freer reign and a wider scope. The Amitié Internationale has become a more important organisation for the integration of foreigners in the area. Since January 2006, more local activities are organised by the Association de l'I.S.L.E., a product of the Amitié Internationale.
